About Nelcon Vulnerable Communities Foundation

Nelcon Vulnerable Communities Foundation Ltd (NEVCO) is a female led non-governmental organisation that was formed as a result of a powerful collaboration between two dedicated activists Agaba Costance and Kinaheirwe Nevalyn. United by their shared belief of the power of women and gender equality, they founded NEVCO to empower women to thrive by promoting their human rights, environmental and economic justice, health and wellbeing, inclusion and digital security.

NEVCO is a multifaceted organisation dedicated to creating a just and sustainable future for all. We address critical issues through integrated programs that promote human rights and expand civic space, enhance digital security for grassroots defenders and vulnerable populations, champion environmental sustainability and climate justice, foster economic justice, improve health and well being and advance inclusion for marginalized communities.

Our interconnected approach recognizes the fundamental links between these areas in building a more equitable and resilient world. NEVCO works in communities of the central and western Region of Uganda. NEVCO was established in 2020 and has grown from a small group into a significant organisation recognized among communities for its advocacy work.

NEVCO works to eliminate factors that increase women’s vulnerability and prevent them from enjoying their full God-given and constitutional rights. Although the geographic area of coverage is quite expansive for the comprehensive layered methodology of the organization’s programming model, the organization takes a community-focused approach to ensure that at any given time, program activities target a manageable number of people.

To significantly improve the lives of 3000 women in central and western Uganda by 2040 through the advancement of their human rights, expansion of civic space, promotion of environmental and economic justice, improvement of health and wellbeing, increased inclusion and enhanced digital security.
