Environment and Sustainability Program

NEVCO recognizes the interconnectedness of environmental sustainability and women's empowerment. At NEVCO, our program focuses at Empowering Women for a Greener Future .Our Environment and Sustainability Program champions the role of women as agents of change in safeguarding the planet. We believe that women are critical to environmental conservation and sustainable development, and that a healthy environment is essential for the well-being of all. Our program addresses environmental issues through a gender lens focusing on;

• Environmental Awareness and Education: NEVCO organizes Workshops and trainings which Provide women with educational opportunities on environmental issues, including climate change, pollution, resource management, and sustainable practices for example “Eco-feminism,” “Sustainable Agriculture,” and “Waste Management”. Through Community outreaches NEVCO Raises awareness in local communities about the importance of environmental protection and sustainable living through workshops, presentations, and community events. Then NEVCO also gives out Educational materials by Creating and distributing resources such as brochures, leaflets, and online guides to promote environmental awareness.
• Empowering Women as Environmental Leaders: NEVCO organizes Leadership development programs of Equipping women with the skills and confidence to become environmental leaders and advocates in their communities. It also promotes Networking opportunities for Connecting women with opportunities to collaborate on environmental projects and share best practices and also organizes Mentorship programs which Provides experienced mentors to support and guide women in environmental activism and leadership roles.
• Sustainable Livelihoods and Economic Opportunities: Under this slot, NEVCO Supports women-owned businesses by Promoting sustainable business models and initiatives that benefit both women and the environment for example Eco-tourism, sustainable agriculture, re-purposing programs and fair-trade products. NEVCO Promotes sustainable agriculture and resource management by educating women in sustainable farming practices, water conservation, and responsible use of natural resources. NEVCO also offers Skills training by offering training programs in areas like organic farming, waste recycling, and renewable energy to increase women’s economic opportunities in sustainable sectors
• Protecting Women’s Rights and Environmental Justice: NEVCO addresses environmental injustices by focusing on the disproportionate impact of environmental degradation on women and girls in marginalized communities. Through Advocacy and policy engagement NEVCO is working with policymakers and decision-makers to advocate for policies that protect women’s rights and environmental justice. We are also building partnerships by Collaborating with other organizations to create a stronger collective voice and action for environmental protection. Through these programs we are able to have increased environmental awareness and action among women, successfully Empower of women as environmental leaders and advocates, have improved environmental stewardship and resource management in local communities and also have Sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in green industries.
