• Economic Justice Program

    NEVCO is committed to achieving economic justice for women. Our Economic Justice Program works to dismantle systemic barriers that prevent women from accessing economic opportunities and resources, fostering financial independence and empowerment. We believe that economic security is fundamental to women’s overall well-being and crucial for building a more equitable society. Our program focuses on Empowering Women Economically. The several key areas we focus on are;

    • Access to Financial Resources: NEVCO strives to provide women with access to financial resources and opportunities they need to thrive economically. This includes Microfinance & Small Business Loans where women are Provided with access to loans, grants, and other financial support to help them start and grow their businesses, Financial literacy workshops for Educating women on budgeting, saving, investing, and managing debt, Business development trainings for Equipping women with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in business, including training in marketing, accounting, and management. And Mentorship programs for Connecting women entrepreneurs with experienced mentors who can provide guidance and support.
    • Addressing Gender-Based Discrimination: Under this area, NEVCO actively challenges and addresses systemic gender-based discrimination that hinders women’s economic advancement. This includes Advocacy for equal pay & employment rights. NEVCO Works to ensure women receive equal pay for equal work and are afforded equal employment opportunities. Through Legal aid and support, NEVCO Provides legal assistance and resources to help women enforce their rights. NEVCO makes Research & data collections by analyzing economic disparities faced by women and using data to advocate for policy changes. Through Awareness campaigns NEVCO Raises public awareness about the economic disadvantages faced by women and promoting gender equality.
    • Skills Development & Training: NEVCO offers training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of women by increasing their employment prospects and earning potential. This includes Vocational training programs which Provide trainings in relevant skills, such as carpentry, tailoring, or IT, Job placement assistance by Connecting women with job opportunities and providing assistance with resume building and interviewing skills and organising Up skilling programs which Provide opportunities for women to upgrade their skills and knowledge for higher-paying roles.
    • Supporting Women-Led Businesses: NEVCO actively supports and promotes women-led businesses and entrepreneurship. This includes networking opportunities which involves connecting women entrepreneurs with each other and potential investors, Providing access to markets, business incubators, and relevant resources and Advocacy for favorable policies which Promotes policies that support women-owned businesses. Through these we are able to have increased economic independence and empowerment for women, improved economic outcomes and reduced poverty for women and their families, have a greater participation of women in the formal and informal economy, and have increased visibility and recognition of women’s contributions to the economy.

    Nelcon Vulnerable Communities Foundation Ltd (NEVCO) is a female led non-governmental organisation that was formed as a result of a powerful collaboration between two dedicated activists Agaba Costance and Kinaheirwe Nevalyn. United by their shared belief of the power of women and gender equality, they founded NEVCO to empower women to thrive by promoting their human rights, environmental and economic justice.
